Jailer 2 has closed its opening day advance bookings on a strong note. As of 9 PM IST on release eve, the Rajinikanth film has crossed ₹72 Cr in worldwide pre-sales, the biggest advance for a Kollywood film this year. With the final rush and walk-ins to come, Jailer 2 is now heading for a Day 1 of around ₹120 Cr gross worldwide.

The Final-Day Surge
The last day made a big difference. On Monday evening, worldwide pre-sales stood at around ₹50 Cr. By Wednesday night, the film had added more than ₹20 Cr, with the biggest jumps coming in the final 24 hours, exactly the kind of last-minute rush Rajinikanth films are known for.
Tamil Nadu leads the way with ₹13.73 Cr, while Karnataka at ₹8.93 Cr and Kerala at ₹7.26 Cr have both delivered strong numbers. The Telugu States together have contributed ₹6.62 Cr, a solid final push after a slow start.
Overseas has crossed $3.5M, with North America alone crossing $1.2M in premiere and Day 1 pre-sales.
Third Biggest Kollywood Opening
With these numbers, Jailer 2 is set to register the third biggest opening in Kollywood history, behind Coolie and Leo. Interestingly, the No.1 spot belongs to Rajinikanth himself with Coolie.
At 75, Rajinikanth continues to set new milestones and records, something very few stars anywhere in the world can claim.
Not the Record Start, and That May Be By Design
Jailer 2’s opening is not at the record level many expected for a sequel to a ₹600 Cr blockbuster. But the team has not been chasing sky-high expectations either. Instead, they want audiences to walk in with moderate expectations and simply enjoy the film, the same way they enjoyed the first part.
That approach worked perfectly for Jailer in 2023. The first film did not arrive with record-breaking hype, but once the word of mouth spread after the first shows, it exploded at the box office and went on to gross around ₹600 Cr worldwide.
Jailer 2 is expected to follow the same path.
Day 1 Projection: ₹120 Cr
Based on the final pre-sales, Jailer 2’s opening day is expected to land in the ₹120 Cr gross range worldwide. Word of mouth will play a big role even on Day 1. If the first shows bring positive talk, walk-ins through the day can push the number higher.
