An Indian Short Film has been Nominated for the Oscars. Anuja, backed by actress Priyanka Chopra and Guneet Monga, was nominated for Best Live Action Short Film at the Oscars 2025.
It is also the third Oscar nomination for Guneet Monga Kapoor after two previous wins with The Elephant Whisperers and Period End of Sentence. Priyanka Chopra and the unit members of Anuja shared their happiness on social media, and many netizens are delighted as an Indian Short Film has been Nominated for Oscars.
Anuja tells the story of a nine-year-old girl working in a back-alley garment factory alongside her older sister, Palak. The film explores her journey as she confronts a life-altering decision that could shape her family’s future.
Directed by Adam J. Graves, Anuja is backed by producers: Suchitra Mattai, Mindy Kaling, Guneet Monga Kapoor, Krushan Naik, Aaron Kopp, Devananda Graves, Michael Graves, Ksheetij Saini, and Alexandra Blaney. Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Anita Bhatia are on board as Executive Producers. Co-Executive Producers include Archana Jain, Susan MacLaury, and Albie Hecht.
