Mari Selvaraj’s social justice drama Maamannan was released in theatres on June 29th and opened to fantastic numbers at the box office. Not only has it opened well in Tamil Nadu but has in the Telugu states as well as in Karnataka.
Owing to the film’s massive success over the weekend, the hero of Maamannan, Udhayanidhi Stalin has gifted the director Mari Selvaraj with a costly car. As we can see from the picture, Stalin gifted the Maamannan director a Mini Cooper.
It is usually the actors who get the credit for the movie but the directors are not praised enough. It is really nice to see Udhay Stalin acknowledge the director’s efforts with this gift. Stalin has also mentioned many times that Mari Selvaraj is one of his favorite directors.
In fact, after watching Mari’s debut film Pariyerum Perumal, he had a long discussion with him. When Mari finally approached Stalin, he was apprehensive as to whether Stalin will accept a role like this. But the actor agreed almost instantly.
Maamannan is currently enjoying a dream run at the box office. Despite some mixed reviews from a section of the audience, it has not hindered the performance of the film. Apart from Udhay Stalin, the film also boasts of amazing performances from Vadivelu, Fahadh Faasil, and Keerthy Suresh.
