Chiranjeevi’s Godfather boasts a relatively low budget but this is largely due to Chiranjeevi’s remuneration. Barring his fees, the movie was made on a low budget of only 45 crores.
The film was released in theatres on 5th October and opened to average collections at the box office. Despite the positive word of mouth, the film did not manage to pull the audience into the cinema halls. The film has collected a share of 55 crores and the theatrical business has been valued at 80 crores.
But all is not sad, in fact, there is some very good news for the makers. The movie has done extraordinary non-theatrical business. Due to the Pan-Indian release factor and the presence of Salman Khan in the Hindi version, the film’s non-theatrical rights have been sold for a whopping amount.
Taking into account the theatrical as well as the non-theatrical rights, the makers of Godfather have recovered 150 crores. These are huge numbers for a film that has struggled to make a mark in theatres. The profits will be shared between Chiranjeevi and NV Prasad. Overall, Godfather has emerged as a profitable venture for the makers.
Godfather has been directed by Mohan Raja and also stars Nayanthara, Satyadev, Brahmaji, and a bunch of others. Thaman S is the music director of the film
