Megastar Chiranjeevi’s Godfather continued its cold run at the box office with a not-so-fruitful Monday. The political drama released has failed to take advantage of the festive season and even the weekend and has shocked the trade circles with its performance.
The film also featured Satyadev and Nayanthara in key roles and it was released to mostly positive reviews. Chiranjeevi and Satyadev’s performance in particular was appreciated by many.
The weekend was below par with a share of 47Cr worldwide and It completely crashed on Monday by collecting around 1.5Cr so now, it looks like breakeven is not at all possible at the current pace and the final collection may close around 60Cr.
The Theatrical rights are valued at 80Cr and with these numbers, Godfather is heading towards being a disaster at BO.
After the debacle of Acharya, Chiranjeevi pinned a lot of hopes on this political drama. As mentioned many times during promotions, Chiranjeevi’s Godfather is a more commercialized version of Mohanlal’s Malayalam Blockbuster ‘Lucifer’.
