Dil Raju, One of the top producers in the Telugu Film Industry, has become a center of attraction for the recent controversy regarding the theaters’ allocation for Sankranthi releases. He’s mainly accused of giving first preference to the film Varisu/Varasudu because he’s the producer of the movie.
Recently, Radha Krishna of ABN Andhrajyothi invited him for an interview. He said several intriguing things in the interview regarding the latest controversy and accusations on him.
In the recent days, everyone commented and pointed out the statements given by Dil Raju regarding straight and dubbed films preference at the festival times in 2019. Now he’s saying that Petta was suddenly announced as the Sankranthi release by some newcomers, whereas Varisu was announced as Sankranthi release on the movie’s starting day itself.
Dil Raju said that they announced the release date in May, Chiranjeevi’s Waltair Veerayya announced in June and Balakrishna’s Veera Simha Reddy was announced in October.
Veera Simha Reddy was slated for December release, due to the delay in the work or to take the advantage of festival release, they changed it to Sankranthi, Dil Raju said. He also said that for the first time in the industry, the same production house is releasing two movies at a time.
Dil Raju went on to say that Mythri Movie makers don’t have any problem with him, then why others worry and make Fuss about the issue.
Dil Raju tried to divert the topic cleverly in the interview, no one is asking him to not release Varisu or any dubbed film. But the point is, Megastar Chiranjeevi and Nandamuri Balakrishna are bigger stars and both the movies Waltair Veerayya and Veera Simha Reddy have made good business in Telugu States.
To achieve the break even mark, both the movies have to get the best possible release with maximum theaters allocated to them. Dil Raju is not providing them the advantage and giving preference to Varisu is the main concern here.
Dil Raju is clearly aware of the whole issue and still playing the innocent game. Let’s wait and watch how this issue of theaters will be sorted out.
