Jersey was one such movie that attracted audience of all ages in Telugu. The movie was one of the best performances of Nani’s career and has been a favorite for everyone. At box office also, the movie did at its best. This has intrigued the Bollywood hero Shahid Kapoor. He wanted to remake the movie in Hindi. Producer Dil Raju along with Geetha Arts produced this movie and Jersey original director Gautham Tinnanuri directed it in Hindi too.
Mrunal Thakur played as the lead actress opposite Shahid Kapoor. The movie had lot of expectations. However, with COVID and various other factors, it kept on postponing. It finally hit theatres in April, 2022.
However, due to wrong time release and other issues, the movie didn’t perform well at box office. Producers expected a profit of 30 crores but ended up with 3-4 crore losses. This is something that has made Dil Raju rethink about his movies. He understood that the COVID pandemic, OTT access has changed the mindset of audience a lot and it is not that easy to attract the audience to theaters right now.
He also added that the pandemic has huge impact on the movie industry.
