Anand Deverakonda and Vaishnavi Chaitanya’s Epic – First Semester is set for its EPIC OTT debut on Netflix starting October 9, just weeks after its theatrical disappointment. The film will stream in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi simultaneously on the platform.
EPIC OTT Platform and Release Date
Directed by Aditya Hasan, Epic – First Semester was released worldwide on September 11 but failed to impress audiences at the box office. The film’s quick transition to OTT comes as Netflix prepares to stream it across multiple South Indian languages plus Hindi from October 9 onward.
The multi-language EPIC OTT release strategy aims to reach wider audiences who missed the theatrical run or want to revisit the college romance drama from the comfort of their homes.
Theatrical Performance and Box Office Collections
The film’s theatrical journey was short-lived. Epic – First Semester opened to mixed reviews and collected just ₹4 Cr worldwide on day 1, struggling against its ₹25 Cr break-even target. The lukewarm response meant the makers opted for a quick OTT release to recover investments through digital rights.
Despite the theatrical setback, the film’s music composed by Hesham Abdul Wahab received positive appreciation and stood out as a major highlight.
Cast and Crew Details
Epic – First Semester reunites the Baby duo of Anand Deverakonda and Vaishnavi Chaitanya in lead roles. The film also features senior actor Shivaji and Vasuki in other key roles. The project was jointly produced by Suryadevara Naga Vamsi and Sai Soujanya under the banners of Sithara Entertainments and Fortune Four Cinemas.
Those who missed Epic – First Semester in theaters can now watch the complete film on Netflix starting October 9. The EPIC OTT release offers a second chance for the college romance to find its audience on the digital platform.
