Starring Hebah Patel and others, “Eesha” is the latest horror thriller from the Telugu film industry. It grabbed everyone’s attention with solid promotions, and the film’s paid premieres received a good response. Now, let’s find out how the film has been shaped in the following review.

Story:

Disturbed by the death of her maid’s daughter due to blind superstitions, Naina (Hebah Patel) and her friends decide to expose fake gurus from different religions who take advantage of people’s fears. Their group focuses on Dr. Adidev (Prithveeraj), a famous neurologist who has become a Swami.

When they confront him, Adidev challenges them to stay in a haunted house for three days to prove that ghosts do not exist. The rest of the story is about what happens in the end.

Performances:

Hebah Patel, Thrigun, Akhil Raj, and Siri Hanumanth play the lead roles. But their characters do not offer much scope for strong performances, except for a few emotional scenes involving Siri. Prithveeraj has a well-written role and delivers a decent performance.

Analysis:

The film is written and directed by Srinivas Manne. It is a proper horror thriller without commercial elements and stays focused on its theme throughout. The opening sequence involving a child is effective.

The scenes where Naina and her friends expose fake Swamis are handled reasonably well. The film becomes more engaging with the introduction of Dr. Adidev’s character. A small accident that occurs around the same time and later turns into a major conflict is also well narrated. Although there are no strong jump scares or intense thrills in the first half, the film manages to hold the viewer’s interest.

But the film loses momentum once the group enters the haunted house. The usual horror sounds and scare tactics fail to create the desired impact. The emotional moments between the characters are also weak. The makers rely heavily on the twist near the climax. If viewers figure it out early, it may not impress them, but for those who do not see it coming, it can be surprising.

Positives:

  • Few Well-Executed Jump Scares
  • Background Score
  • Effective Dialogues in a Few Places

Negatives:

  • Silly/Irritating Characterizations
  • Routine Thrills/Horror Parts
  • Not So Striking Twist at the end

Eesha Review and Verdict:

Overall, Eesha is a sincere attempt at making a true horror thriller with a few notable scenes. However, the film’s overall effect remains average, as it fails to consistently deliver strong thrills or effective jump scares.
