Dhurandhar: The Revenge has created history at the Indian box office by delivering a ₹100 Cr nett opening, becoming the first Bollywood film to achieve this milestone. The film also becomes the 5th film to do so in Indian Cinema.
The Elite ₹100 Cr Opening Club
The trend of ₹100 Cr openings in India began with Baahubali 2: The Conclusion, which set a new benchmark. Later, films like KGF: Chapter 2, RRR, and Pushpa 2: The Rule joined this elite club.
Until now, all films achieving this milestone were South Indian productions, making Dhurandhar’s entry even more significant as it marks Bollywood’s first inclusion in the ₹100 Cr opening club.
With this, Dhurandhar becomes the 5th film in Indian cinema history to cross ₹100 Cr nett on its opening day in India.
Sequels Dominate the List
Another interesting observation is that 4 out of these 5 films are sequels — Baahubali 2, KGF 2, Pushpa 2, and now Dhurandhar: The Revenge. The only standalone film in this list is RRR, directed by S. S. Rajamouli.
Hindi-Only Achievement
One more notable achievement for Dhurandhar is that, unlike the other films, which benefited from multi-language releases, it has reached this milestone primarily with the Hindi version alone, as the shows in dubbed languages were impacted due to content delays on release day.
This makes Dhurandhar’s ₹100 Cr opening even more impressive, as it demonstrates the massive box office pull of Bollywood in its home market.
