The much-awaited Dhurandhar: The Revenge received a sensational response on the first day, and it was earlier estimated to gross over ₹200 Cr on its opening day, but it has fallen a bit short in actuals.
Opening Day Performance
The film opened with a Dhurandhar: The Revenge worldwide gross of ₹190 Cr. Out of this, ₹116 Cr nett came from India (₹40 Cr premieres + ₹76 Cr Day 1), ₹139 Cr gross from India, and ₹51 Cr gross from overseas. It is the biggest ever start for a Bollywood film.
This impressive opening places the film among the elite club of Indian cinema’s biggest launches.
What Held It Back from ₹200 Cr
Had it been released with dubbed versions, Dhurandhar: The Revenge could have easily achieved more than ₹200 Cr start, and the Middle East could have added another ₹20 Cr if it had not been banned.
With dubbed releases and no ban in the Middle East, the film could have registered the 2nd biggest opening after Pushpa 2 worldwide for an Indian film. The absence of regional language versions limited its reach in South Indian markets, where dubbed content typically performs well.
All-Time Opening Day Rankings
Now, it has taken the 4th biggest opening worldwide after Pushpa 2, RRR, and Baahubali 2. This achievement is significant considering it’s a Bollywood film competing with pan-Indian blockbusters.
The film’s ₹116 Cr India nett collection on Day 1 showcases the massive pull of the franchise among North Indian audiences. Despite the slight shortfall from the ₹200 Cr prediction, Dhurandhar: The Revenge has delivered exceptional numbers that will be tough to beat in the Bollywood space.
