Dhanush’s Vaathi (Sir) was released this week to mostly positive reviews with special appreciation for Dhanush’s performance as a teacher. The film was released in Telugu as Sir and quite surprisingly, the film has been performing way better in Telugu states as compared to Tamil Nadu.
Sir opened with more than 5 crores at the box office in gross collections on Day 1, which is a sensational start. And with the Sivaratri advantage on Day 2, the film has collected more than the opening day numbers in all territories. When a film collects more on Day 2 than on Day 1 at the box office, it is always a positive sign for the film.
Coming to collections, 2 days’ collections were quite consistent and if we take only day 2 Telugu states gross, then it is more than Tamil Nadu proving the Telugu audience’s love for good content and constant encouragement for good movies.
With its aggressive marketing, Dhanush’s Vaathi generated a lot of hype in Telugu states and was expected to do well. The makers even arranged paid premieres with huge faith in the film’s storyline.
Venky Atluri has directed this film which also stars Samyukta Menon, Samuthirakani, Hyper Aadi, and Sai Kumar among others. Sir has been produced by Sithara Entertainments and the music is scored by GV Prakash.
