Dhanush’s latest bilingual blockbuster, Sir Movie is still the No 1 choice of the audience even after almost three weeks from its release. The film crossed the magical figure of 100 Crores Gross (Sir/Vaathi combined) at the worldwide box office. Sir, the Telugu version is having the best run as it has garnered over 36 crores Gross from the Telugu States.

The rest of the world’s collections of the Telugu version will be around 3 Crores. The film opened to decent word of mouth from the audience and the reviews from the critics were good too. The film’s production unit had enormous faith in the film, and they arranged paid premiers before the release day, and the strategy worked well for them.

The positive response to Sir from the paid premiers and morning shows cultivated into superb collections at the box office, and it became the career biggest hit for Dhanush in Telugu States. Directed by Venky Atluri, Dhanush’s film ‘Vaathi’ was released into theaters on February 17.

The film is a Tamil–Telugu bilingual film, and it was released with the title ‘Sir’ in Telugu. The film’s cast includes Samyuktha Menon as the female lead and Samuthirakani as the antagonist, with Sai Kumar, Tanikella Bharani in other important roles.

The movie has had a good run until now, and it continued for this weekend too, as the continuous failures of new releases have helped the film in both Telugu and Tamil States. Director Venky Atluri who is generally known for making love stories, has surprised everyone by handling a serious issue with this film.

The story of ‘Vaathi/SIR’ is set in the 90s and Dhanush appears in the role of a professor who fights against the corporate business and people who don’t want the poor and underprivileged students to not succeed. The film focuses on the drawbacks in the privatization of education. GV Prakash composed the music for the movie.
