The decades-old Balakrishna and Chiranjeevi rivalry at the box office has given Tollywood fans many memorable moments. These clashes have given several industry hits and blockbusters while there have been times when both the senior stars failed simultaneously. While Chiranjeevi has emerged as the bigger star overall, there have been some occasional sparks of brilliance by Balayya as well.
Apart from box-office clashes, there has also been a race to milestones in collections which Chiranjeevi has dominated so far in various aspects. However, here’s a milestone in which Balayya has surprisingly edged out Chiranjeevi comfortably. This milestone is of hat-trick million-dollar movies in the USA.
In the recent past, the brand Balayya has seen a great resurgence. From weakest to strongest, Balakrishna has risen by miles in the USA collections. A few years back he had a pretty poor track record in the USA, but now, his movies are performing well. His latest film Bhagavath Kesari has now crossed the prestigious million-dollar mark in the USA. With this, Balakrishna became the first senior hero to score a hat trick of million dollar collections in this region. Akhanda, Veera Simha Reddy, and Bhagavath Kesari have all achieved the million-dollar mark earning him a hat trick.
Chiranjeevi had an opportunity to achieve this milestone earlier but missed it two times. First, it was with Acharya ($985K) which came very close to a million dollar mark right after Khaidi No. 150 and Syeraa. It happened again this year with Bhola Shankar which spoilt the hat-trick after after Godfather and Wailtair Veerayya both of which collected $1 million + at the US box office.
