Liger’s disastrous performance has given rise to several comments from film lovers and industry insiders. Some feel Vijay shouldn’t have wasted so much time on the film while others feel Puri should have not gone for a pan-India release with such a weak script. While this post-failure analysis is pretty common, Liger for sure has been a bitter pill for Puri and Charmee.
Charmee who is one of the co-producer for Liger has just suffered a massive loss due to Puri’s overconfidence. During the Covid times, many movies got very good offers from OTT platforms and producers happily encashed the opportunity.
Liger also received a sensational offer from an OTT platform the amount could have easily recovered the total budget. Apart from just recovering, it would also have given huge profits to Charmee and Puri. While she was interested to take the offer, Puri had other plans and wanted the film to release in theatres only. Now this decision has left nothing but crores of losses for them.
The theatrical rights of Liger are valued at close to 90Cr and the movie is on its way to becoming the biggest disaster of Puri and Vijay Deverakonda’s career.
