Dulquer Salman’s Kurup released grandly on Friday and has been attracting large crowds to the theatres. The movie is being seen as a revival of the Mollywood market post the pandemic. While the film is still running in theatres, the movie and Dulquer Salman have got into legal trouble.
According to the reports, a PIL has been filed in the High Court claiming the movie threatens the privacy of Sukumara Kurup, who is a criminal on whom the story is based. According to the PIL, the High Court has not issued a stay on the film. But they have informed the center, state government, Interpol, and the producers about the same.
Srinath Rajendran has directed this crime drama and it starts Shobhita Dhulipala and Manoj Bajpayee in key roles. The film is based on life and journey of Kerala’s most famous fugitive criminal Sukumara Kurup.
Dulquer Salman is essaying the lead role of a conman who murdered another man in 1984 to fake his own death and claim the money of insurance of Rs 8,00,000.
