Mahanati which was released a couple of years ago laid down a path for many other biopics in Tollywood but no other film was able to touch its range. Now, yet another great woman’s biopic was announced in the last month. This biopic will be based on the life story of a weight-lifter Karanam Malleswari.
Karanam Malleswari is the first Indian woman to win a medal in the Olympics and she achieved at the 2000 Sydney Olympics. Last month, on the occasion of her birthday Kona Venkat announced her biopic which will be produced by himself and MVV Satyanarayana. A female director Sanjana Reddy will helm this project.
Many names like Nithya Menon, Tapsee were heard on social media will play the title role but not confirmed by the team and the latest news is that Rakul Preet shows interest to act as Karanam Malleswari. After listening to the whole story, she liked the character’s journey and accepted the role. There is no official confirmation from the team yet.
