In Hyderabad, the Animal team held a grand pre-release event, and Superstar Mahesh and SS Rajamouli’s presence added to the Telugu fans’ excitement.
While the Bollywood team received a warm welcome, BRS leader Chamakura Malla Reddy became an embarrassment with his speech addressing Ranbir Kapoor on the grand stage.
Malla Reddy said loudly, “Listen, Mr. Ranbir Kapoor.. within five years. Telugu people will rule Hollywood Bollywood. You will also shift to Hyderabad after one year. Mumbai has become old, and Bengaluru is a traffic jam.. only Hyderabad city in India rules. Rajamouli and Dil Raju are smart people..now Sandeep has become one. Hyderabad top most hai. Telugu people are smart, smart.. our heroine Rashmika is so smart. Pushpa created a sensation. Ashwamedha yaagam conducted here.. Malla Reddy university..your film Animal will do 500 crores.”
Malla Reddy made it seem like Tollywood flourished without setbacks and Hyderabad had no problems. However, Tollywood has the highest number of failures, and heavy rain exposes Hyderabad’s weaknesses in the water logging system. Even Telugu fans state on social media that these leaders tend to overdo their typical loud political speeches to make headlines instead of ensuring their guests’ comfort.
Malla Reddy’s statements have angered a group of Bollywood fans who have been so enthusiastic about films from the Telugu industry. One disappointed fan wrote, “Hindi audience loves Telugu actors and their movies without discrimination. But here, the Telugu leader mocked the Bollywood and Hindi audience.”
Malla Reddy may not have had any ill intentions, but these statements only lead to bad feelings, mainly when massive efforts are being made to create genuine pan-India films.
