Tottempudi Gopichand needs no introduction. Dubbed ‘Macho Star’, he is best known for starring in mass commercials throughout his career, spanning over two decades. However, things have gone entirely downhill for him in recent times.
To say the least, the last 6–8 films of Gopichand have underperformed at the box office, with Ramabanam (his last theatrical release) ending up as a colossal disaster; this is too much for the actor to withstand. While experts predicted he might take a long break from films before making his next move, the Golimar star came up with a cop drama within just one year. Titled Bhimaa, this fantasy action drama is helmed by A. Harsha of Kannada cinema.
Released amidst moderate expectations, this film had a mixed reception, with critics praising the cast performances, action sequences, and music but criticising the other elements. Thanks to its powerful trailer cut, the film posted decent numbers at the box office. With little competition from other films, Bhimaa is expected to emerge as a profitable venture for buyers, thus reviving Gopichand’s career.
