Many directors have one movie that is their dream project that they want to do at some point in their careers. Like how Rajamouli wants to do an adaptation of Mahabharat, Puri’s dream project is the war film, Jana Gana Mana.
Originally, Puri had planned to do Jana Gana Mana with Mahesh Babu. The announcements for the same were also made but it got canceled later due to some reasons. Mahesh and Puri had some creative differences due to which the film couldn’t materialize.
Later, Puri was in talks with Venkatesh but that didn’t go according to plans as well. Puri even approached Yash and Salman Khan but none of them showed interest in the film. Years later, Vijay Deverakonda signed Jana Gana Mana after Puri convinced him to do so.
The team also made official announcements and cast Pooja Hegde as the female lead. They even paid some cast and crew remunerations for the shooting. The first schedule of the film has also been completed now. But because of the disastrous result of Liger, the movie has been shelved. This means that the makers could have easily lost 10 crores with no way to recover the amount.
