Who Is Kavya Maran?
Kavya Maran is the daughter of media baron Kalanithi Maran, chairman of the Sun Group. She is the CEO of the IPL team Sunrisers Hyderabad and is a familiar face to cricket fans, often seen cheering for her team from the stands. She also plays a key role in the Sun Group’s media business.
Anirudh’s Big Year
The wedding comes during one of the busiest phases of Anirudh’s career. His latest release, Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2, has just opened to ₹130 Cr+ worldwide. Interestingly, Jailer 2 is produced by Sun Pictures, the film arm of the Sun Group, which also backed Jailer and Coolie, two other Anirudh and Rajinikanth films.
Anirudh is also set to compose music for Sukumar and Ram Charan’s RC17, his first film with Ram Charan, along with several other big projects across languages.
From Rumours to Wedding
Reports about Anirudh and Kavya Maran’s relationship have been doing the rounds for over a year. In June 2025, Anirudh brushed aside marriage talk on X, writing, “Marriage ah? lol .. Chill out guys, pls stop spreading rumours.”
But earlier this year, his uncle, actor Y Gee Mahendra, spoke openly about the wedding in an interview. “Based on what I’ve been told, it’s a sure thing. They are getting married,” he said, adding, “They’re a good pair.”
The couple themselves have not yet made an official announcement.
