After the release of Avatar back in 2009, James Cameron took a massive 13 years gap to make and release the second part of the film in 2022. The massive success of Avatar 2 had given a great boost to James Cameron’s further plans on building the Avatar franchise. The plan was to have frequent releases of all the movies, but it is being reported that the release dates of all the Avatar Sequels have been postponed.
Avatar 3, which was previously slated to be released on Dec. 20th 2024, moves to Dec 19th 2025. Avatar 4, which was scheduled for Dec. 18th 2026 now shifted to Dec 21st 2029. Avatar 5 was previously set to be released on Dec 22nd 2028 but now it shifted to Dec 19th 2031.
Even before the release of Avatar 2, Cameron had declared that if this film fails at the box office, then there will be no more sequels. However, the success of this visual extravaganza had reopened all the sequel’s plans. Reportedly, the decision of postponing the much awaited sequels was taken with regard to the time the filmmaking needs to get the required quality level.
