Akshay Kumar was once regarded as one of the biggest stars in Hindi cinema, with an impressive track record of delivering multiple releases in the same year. However, his recent theatrical run has been challenging, and his latest outing Haiwaan has ended its box-office journey on a highly disappointing note. The film’s underwhelming performance has once again raised questions about the actor’s current theatrical pull.

Directed by Priyadarshan, Haiwaan is a crime thriller starring Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan in the lead roles. A remake of the Malayalam hit Oppam, the film carried modest buzz ahead of its release and opened to just ₹2.5 crore net on its first day. The response from audiences and critics was also largely negative, further impacting the film’s prospects at the box office.

Reflecting the poor word of mouth, Haiwaan managed only around ₹6.7 crore net during its opening weekend. The film has now concluded its theatrical run with a reported lifetime net of just ₹9 crore in India. For a film headlined by established stars such as Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan, the final numbers are undeniably disappointing and have emerged as a major talking point in trade circles.
