Actor Ajith Kumar arrived early at a polling station in Thiruvanmiyur, Chennai, on Thursday and became the first person in Tamil Nadu to cast his vote before 7 AM. There was no grand show or heavy security around him, just a calm and simple arrival. However, his presence naturally drew attention, as fans and fellow voters noticed him taking part in the democratic process.
Other Celebrities Exercise Their Franchise
Following Ajith Kumar, Tamil Nadu BJP Vice President Khushbu Sundar cast her vote in Mylapore. Speaking to ANI after voting, she appeared emotional yet proud. “You can see the smile on my face that says it all. Casting my vote is my biggest democratic right, and it means a lot to me as a citizen,” she said.
Superstars Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan, along with his daughter Shruti Haasan, also exercised their franchise in Chennai. Meanwhile, actor Vijay, who is contesting in the elections, cast his vote in Neelankarai. Actor Dhanush voted at St. Francis Xavier Middle School in Alwarpet.
Tamil Nadu’s Electoral Battle
In Tamil Nadu, the main electoral contest is shaping up between the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK)-led alliance, which includes the Indian National Congress, DMDK, and VCK, and the National Democratic Alliance led by All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK), with the Bharatiya Janata Party and PMK as its partners. While the DMK is banking on its welfare schemes and governance record, the AIADMK-led NDA is aiming for a strong political comeback.
Actor Vijay has also stepped into electoral politics with his party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), marking his debut in elections.
