Agadha is a Telugu mystic thriller with supernatural and spiritual elements, directed by veteran filmmaker M.S. Raju and starring Kamakshi Bhaskarla as Mahadevi, alongside Shravan Reddy, Ulka Gupta, Jovika Vijay Kumar, Roshan Basheer, Bhanu Chander and Vanitha Vijayakumar. The story follows spiritually gifted Mahadevi as a series of unexplained deaths and her cousin’s mysterious suicide lead her to a forbidden forest cave, where she encounters a supernatural presence called Agadha. Produced by Kasi Visalakshi Balusu under Sri Adi Varaha Productions, the film is now set to premiere on ZEE5 on September 25, 2026.
Limited Theatrical Run, Now A Wider Opportunity
Agadha arrived in theatres on August 14, but its theatrical run was relatively modest and the film received a mixed response from critics and audiences. Trade tracking reports put its India net collection at around ₹1.30 crore, with the film struggling to make a major commercial impact despite its intriguing supernatural premise. With its theatrical window now over, the ZEE5 release gives Agadha another opportunity to find viewers. The OTT platform could particularly help the film reach audiences who missed its limited theatrical run and viewers interested in supernatural and mystery-driven stories.
M.S. Raju’s Journey From Producer To Director
The OTT arrival also brings attention back to M.S. Raju’s remarkable legacy as a producer who later moved into direction. Through Sumanth Art Productions, he backed acclaimed commercial films including Manasantha Nuvve, Okkadu, Varsham and Nuvvostanante Nenoddantana, earning three consecutive Filmfare Awards for the latter three. Raju subsequently turned director and has continued exploring different genres, with Agadha representing his latest attempt to venture into mystical and supernatural storytelling. He has also made it clear that retirement is not on his mind and that he wants to continue exploring stories he has not attempted before.
