It’s less than a week until the most awaited mythological drama Adipurush releases, and the atmosphere is already exciting among the moviegoers. The early ticket sales have begun in some international markets and were opened to an extraordinary response. So, it is obvious that in its domestic market, this Prabhas and Om Raut’s Magnum Opus is expected to have exceptional openings. However, the fans of Prabhas and other regular audience are in for disappointing news as the film Adipurush will not be available in IMAX format.
Originally, Adipurush was not only included in 2D and 3D versions, but also an IMAX format. However, this plan is now cancelled. According to the reports, Adipurush which is considered to be one of the most fanciful films ever made in India, and the makers believed that an IMAX release would be fitting for such a massive production.
But it is said that this idea had to be scrapped due to a scheduling conflict with Warner Bros’ superhero film, The Flash, which is also set to release on the same day. Apparently, the IMAX screens had been reserved by Flash well in advance, and under IMAX regulations, two movies cannot be released simultaneously on their screens. Therefore, the decision to release Adipurush on the IMAX screens had to be abandoned.
Adipurush was initially slated for release on January 12, 2023. The teaser, which premiered on October 2, 2022, majorly displayed the IMAX logo. However, the release of the film was postponed for about 5 months. Until the first week of April 2023, the promotional materials and posters of Adipurush continued to carry the IMAX logo, but were subsequently deleted. Furthermore, during the trailer launch on May 9, the IMAX logo was not included.
The audience, fans, and other movie enthusiasts are disappointed with this as they firmly believe that Adipurush deserved an IMAX release. However, they lamented that this is how the management of IMAX works.
