2018 Movie completely collapses after OTT release and falls far behind 200 Crores mark

There is no need for the special introduction for 2018 Movie, the latest Malayalam film which was a surprise hit at the box office, and it even went on to become the highest grosser of Mollywood and achieved the industry hit status. After such big success, it got released in other languages as well. However, the film saw a massive drop in the collections and was unable to cross the magical figure of 200 Crores Gross.

The way 2018 Movie had collected before its OTT release was simply sensational as the movie broke all the records and released in other languages and in Telugu also the movie got good collections. Looking at the trend, everyone has expected the movie will surpass 200 Crores mark and will be the 1st Mollywood film to achieve the remarkable, but after that OTT release, the movie completely collapses and finishes less than 180 Crores worldwide and remains far behind the 200 Crores mark.

The film features a massive ensemble cast comprising Tovino Thomas, Indrans, Kunchacko Boban, Aparna Balamurali, Vineeth Sreenivasan, Asif Ali, Lal, and Narain among others. Jude Anthony Joseph directed this film, which was well appreciated for its thrilling elements and natural depiction of the 2018 floods.

The movie tells us the story of many people who are living in the God’s own country, Kerala. Anup (Tovino Thomas), is a former soldier, who fears death and leaves the military. He is mocked by the people in his village. Mathachan (Lal) and her son Winston (Narain) earn their livelihood from fishing, while Koshy (Aju Varghese) drives a taxi for tourists. Ramesh (Vineeth Srinivasan), an IT employee in Dubai, faces relationship troubles with his wife in India, and Sethupathi (Kalayirasan) from Tamil Nadu agrees to transport explosives to Kerala as a truck driver. How did the Kerala floods have an impact on the lives of these people? How were they able to survive that catastrophe? Answers to these questions form the rest of the story.
