Toxic, starring Yash, is gearing up for a grand theatrical release on March 19. The film is one of the most awaited pan-India releases of the year, but knowingly or unknowingly, the team of Toxic is spreading fake business numbers.
Because more than the content, it’s the pre-release business numbers that are creating discussion in trade circles about Toxic.
Toxic – Advance Basis Release, Not Outright
According to industry sources, Toxic is being released in many areas on an advance basis, not on a full, outright model.
That means distributors are paying advances, and final settlements will depend on how the film performs after release. It is closer to a producer’s own release structure rather than a completely sold-out theatrical deal.
However, official projections are presenting the film as if it has achieved massive outright business across territories.
Numbers That Shocked the Trade
- Telugu States – ₹120 Cr
- Karnataka – ₹63 Cr
- Overseas – ₹105 Cr
These numbers shock trade and surprised many because even K.G.F: Chapter 2, a historic blockbuster, did not reportedly close at such high levels in certain regions before release.
This gap between the business model and the projected numbers has led to speculation about whether the figures are being exaggerated.
There is no doubt that Toxic carries strong anticipation. But if very high break-even numbers enter the public domain and the film doesn’t open at that level, it could create unnecessary pressure.
Sometimes, over-projection before release can backfire after the first weekend numbers are out.
