Maharaja is an action thriller film starring ‘Makkal Selvan’ Vijay Sethupathi in the lead role. Released amidst modest expectations, it received high critical acclaim upon release. And expectedly performed superbly in its first weekend (three days).
The film sold a solid 114K tickets on its first day itself, thus marking a good start. It witnessed a massive jump by selling over 407,000 tickets in the next two days. Overall, Maharaja has had an excellent first weekend with over 520K footfalls (in both Tamil and Tamil versions).
Maharaja is a landmark 50th film by Vijay Sethupathi, and the actor’s decision to choose this crime thriller has turned out to be a blockbuster. Helmed by Nithilan Saminathan, it also stars Mamta Mohandas and Anurag Kasyak in crucial supporting roles. Ajaneesh Loknath of Kantara (2022) has composed the film’s tunes.
