RRR has finished fifteen weeks of box office run in Japan and has passed over Rs. 50 crores until date. SS Rajamouli directed action epic starring Ram Charan and NTR was released in Japan in October last year. Since then, it has continued to gather at constant levels for weeks and has recently reported an enormous growth in collections because of awards season buzz.
The fifteenth week has been the biggest for the film since its release as it witnessed a powerful jump by collecting JPY 121 million Approx, beating the past best of JPY 110 million in the fourteenth week.
RRR is nominated for “Best Foreign Language Film” at the 46th Japan Academy Film Prize along with Hollywood films Top Gun: Maverick, Spider-man: No Way Home, Avatar: The Way of Water and CODA. A win there could much push the film’s numbers in the market. The winners will be announced next month on March 10th.

No one expected RRR to score big at the Japanese box office when it was released, and some even commented that releasing RRR in Japan was a waste of time. But it surpassed everyone’s expectations and is on the way to cross the collections of KGF 2 with a good margin, and it will become all time Top 3 grosser after Dangal Baahubali 2.
