Despite receiving mixed-to-negative reviews upon release, Venkat Prabhu’s sci-fi drama The Greatest Of All Time is minting big figures even on weekdays. This is a testament to the undeniable superstardom of ‘Thalapathy’ Vijay.
What’s even more surprising is that the film’s 5th day Tamil Nadu gross is on par with the opening day figure of Kamal Hassan’s Indian 2. Minting over INR 10 crore today, The GOAT’s Tamil Nadu gross stands at an impressive INR 120 crore.
Going at this pace, the Yuvan Shankar Raja-musical will easily go past the INR 200 crore in its full run. On the other hand, The Goat‘s worldwide gross stands at a staggering INR 300 crore. At the end of its theatrical run, the Vijay-starrer is expected to enter the INR 400 crore club.
Admittedly, the film is a big failure in Kerala and Telugu states. However, owing to the unparalelled craze of ‘Thalapathy’, the goat is the 2nd biggest grosser of the year from South India, only behind Nag Ashwin’s Kalki 2898 AD.
