Telangana Steps Up Action Against Digital Film Piracy

Speaking at the event, DGP Shivadhar Reddy said that digital piracy has now become an organised cybercrime, and tackling it effectively requires close cooperation between the film industry and law enforcement agencies. TGCSB Director Shikha Goel highlighted that films are being pirated within minutes of their release, causing heavy and sometimes irrecoverable losses to producers.

In a strong move against digital piracy that has been troubling the Telugu film industry, the Telangana Cyber Security Bureau (TGCSB) and the Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce (TFCC) have decided to work together. On Monday, both organizations signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to fight movie piracy using advanced technology and coordinated action.

TGCSB and TFCC team up to fight against digital piracy

The MoU was signed by TGCSB Director Shikha Goel and TFCC President Daggubati Suresh Babu. Telangana Director General of Police B. Shivadhar Reddy was present at the event. As part of this agreement, a structured system will be set up for real-time monitoring and information sharing to track and curb piracy networks.

Under the new arrangement, anti-piracy agents from the TFCC will be stationed at the TGCSB’s Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC). They will work closely with cybercrime officials to quickly identify and remove pirated content from digital platforms.

Suresh Babu, TFCC President, considers the new MoU with TGCSB a significant step

TFCC President Daggubati Suresh Babu stated that the Telangana government has been at the forefront of the fight against piracy. He pointed to the recent strict action taken against major piracy websites such as iBOMMA and Tamil Blasters as proof. He also noted that the Telugu film industry is the only one in the country to have an anti-piracy cell for the past 15 years, and said this new MoU marks another important step in strengthening the fight against piracy.
