The 69th National awards for films released in 2021 have been announced this evening. The National Film Awards indeed turned into the Telugu Cinema Awards, with a record haul for Tollywood this time around. Icon Star Allu Arjun getting the honor of Best Actor (Male) for Pushpa. For the record, no Telugu actor has ever won this award in the 69 years of history of National Awards. While the Telugu films like Pushpa and RRR got many awards on the National stage, the Tamil film industry fans are angry at the National film awards jury for ignoring their movies.
From Tamil cinema, Arya’s “Sarpatta Parambarai’, Suriya and Manikandan’s ‘Jai Bheem’, Dhanush’s ‘Karnan’, and Venkat Prabhu’s ‘Maanadu’ starring Simbu which were massive hits and were nominated for the National Awards.
However, none of these films were able to get a National Award, which has left the fans of Tamil cinema dissatisfied. Even though these films received praises for being better films than other languages, the reason they were not selected has become the talk of the town in the Tamil film fraternity. Whether it was because of the politics or any other reason, was there to leave these films? This kind of questions are being raised on social media by Tamil cinema fans.
Especially the most shocking thing for Tamil film fans was “Jai Bheem”, the film directed by T. S. Gnanavel and starring Manikandan, Lijomol Jose along with actor Suriya in the lead role, which was based on the lives of tribal people, did not get any award. The fans could not accept that the film, which focused on Justice Chandru’s life and spoke about social justice, did not receive an award under any category.
