Will Suriya’s Scene Get the Big Green Signal in Tamil Nadu?

Will Suriya's Scene receive the permission for 6 AM Shows and ticket price hike from Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay?

Suriya’s Scene is just days away from release, but its bookings in Tamil Nadu are yet to open. The reason: the distributors are waiting for a key government order that could give the film early morning shows and higher ticket prices.

What Exhibitors Have Asked For

The Tamil Nadu exhibitors’ association has made two big requests to the state government:

  • Permission for special shows starting from 6 AM
  • A ticket price hike of up to ₹250

GO Expected This Week

The exhibitors are expecting the government order (GO) this week. Until it comes, Scene’s makers have decided not to open bookings in Tamil Nadu, because the show timings and ticket rates will depend on what the GO allows.

That’s why Scene’s bookings are still not live in the state, even though the release is just around the corner.

Why It Matters So Much

If approved, the GO could make a big difference to Scene’s opening. A 6 AM show adds an extra show on the first day, and the price hike would push up the gross from every ticket sold. Together, they could give the film a much bigger start in Tamil Nadu.

6 AM Shows Would Be a Big Deal

Early morning shows have been rare in Tamil Nadu in recent years. Special shows in the state usually start at 9 AM. Earlier this year, Suriya’s Karuppu was given permission for 9 AM special shows, and the makers publicly thanked Chief Minister Vijay for it.

A 6 AM slot would be a big step up from that, and it would show how far the government is willing to go for the festival releases.

The Diwali Battle

The timing makes the GO even more important. Scene releases worldwide on November 6 for Diwali, and it faces tough competition. Ramayana releases a day earlier, Nayanthara’s Mookuthi Amman2 same day clash
and Jailer 2 is still running strong in theatres.

With so many films fighting for screens, every extra show and every rupee will count.

About Scene

Scene is directed by Jithu Madhavan, and Suriya plays DSP Inbaraj. The film is one of the most awaited Tamil releases of the festival season.

All eyes are now on the government’s decision, which will set the course for Scene’s opening in Tamil Nadu.
