Jailer 2‘s record run continues, one territory after another. The latest to fall is Malaysia, where the Rajinikanth film has become the highest-grossing Tamil film of all time.
And it isn’t stopping there. Jailer 2 is now closing in on the all-time record for any Indian film in Malaysia.
Kollywood’s New No.1 in Malaysia
In 18 days, Jailer 2 has collected RM 15.2 million in Malaysia. With this, it has crossed Vijay’s The GOAT (RM 15.14 million), which held the Kollywood record in the country.
Rajinikanth’s own Jailer, with RM 14.18 million, and Vijay’s Leo, with RM 13.2 million, are now further behind.
Top Indian Grossers in Malaysia (Malaysian Ringgit)
- Dilwale: RM 15.68M
- Jailer 2: RM 15.2M* (18 days)
- The GOAT: RM 15.14M
- Jailer: RM 14.18M
- Leo: RM 13.2M
Next Target: Shah Rukh Khan’s Dilwale
Only one film now stands above Jailer 2 in Malaysia: Shah Rukh Khan’s Dilwale, with RM 15.68 million. It has held the record for Indian films in Malaysia for over a decade.
Jailer 2 is now less than RM 0.5 million away from that mark. With the film still running strongly, breaking it looks like only a matter of days.
If it does, Jailer 2 will become the biggest Indian film ever in Malaysia.
Malaysia Loves Rajinikanth
Malaysia has always been one of Rajinikanth’s strongest overseas markets, thanks to its large Tamil-speaking audience. With Jailer and now Jailer 2 both in the top five, the Superstar’s hold on the country is clear.
Records Falling Everywhere
The Malaysia record adds to a long list for Jailer 2. The film is already the No.1 Tamil film worldwide and in India, has crossed ₹200 Cr gross in Tamil Nadu, and is now heading towards ₹800 Cr worldwide.
With Diwali next week, the film has one more big window to add to its run, and the Malaysia all-time record could be the next to go.
