Prominent exhibitor and distributor Suniel Narang has resigned from the post of President of the Telangana Film Chamber in a surprising move that has created a major buzz across industry circles. The resignation comes amid the ongoing debate between Telugu film producers and exhibitors over the rental and percentage system.
Suniel Narang officially submitted his resignation letter to the Chamber representatives, citing immense pressure from within the organization.
Pressure from Within the Organization
According to his statement, certain members were allegedly forcing him to take decisions that would favor a few office bearers. “I am being subjected to severe pressure to make decisions that satisfy certain office bearers. I can no longer continue working under such pressure,” stated Suniel Narang in his resignation letter.
Expressing strong dissatisfaction over the internal functioning of the Chamber, Narang reportedly mentioned that decisions were supposed to be taken unanimously, but that was not happening anymore. The dispute over theatre rental systems has created significant tension within the industry in recent months.
Health Concerns and Succession Plans
He also revealed that his health condition has not been supportive in recent times, which further influenced his decision to step down from the President’s responsibilities.
Narang requested the Chamber to immediately relieve him from his position. At the same time, he suggested the names of Shekhar or Vijender to take charge of the presidency without delay.
Legacy in Telangana’s Exhibition Sector
Over the years, Suniel Narang has emerged as one of the biggest names in Telangana’s distribution and exhibition sector. Through the Asian Group, he invested heavily in theatres and partnered with several top stars including Mahesh Babu, Allu Arjun, Ravi Teja, and Vijay Deverakonda to establish multiplexes and cinema properties across multiple cities.
His resignation marks a significant development in the Telugu Film Chamber's ongoing organizational challenges.
