Sundarakanda is the new Telugu entertainer starring Nara Rohith, Sridevi Vijaykumar, and Virti Vaghani in the main roles. Venkatesh Nimmalapudi directed the film, and it generated some good buzz before hitting theaters today. Let’s see how it holds up in our review.
Story:
Siddharth (Nara Rohith) wants to tie the knot with a woman who meets his five must-have qualities. He turns down a bunch of proposals for the same reason, but one day he meets a college girl named Aira (Virti Vaghani) who catches his interest and ticks all the boxes on his checklist. She also develops feelings for Siddharth following some captivating happenings. Just when things are looking up for Siddharth, he runs into an unexpected twist thanks to his school crush, Vaishnavi (Sridevi Vijaykumar). From here on, the story focuses on how Vaishnavi impacts Siddharth’s life and his way of coping with it.
Performances:
Nara Rohith does a good job in his role, though he looks a bit odd in songs. Virti Vaghani shines with her strong acting, and Sridevi Vijaykumar adds charm to her character. Satya’s humor is on point and really carries the movie, thanks to his great timing. Vasuki Anand plays the hero’s sister just right, plus Sunaina Badam, Abhinav Gomatam, and Naresh make their presence felt.
Analysis:
As a first-timer, Venkatesh Nimmalapudi takes on the film effortlessly, featuring a conflict that’s not your everyday kind. He keeps things moving and mostly avoids any boring parts. The opening scenes are pretty cool and have a fun vibe, and even though the romance is not anything special, it works well thanks to Satya’s comedic support as the hero’s buddy. The interval twist grabs attention and gets people curious about the second half.
The second half of Sundarakanda could have packed more emotional punch. The director kind of overlooked a few key moments, such as the twist involving Vaishnavi affecting the situations and the hero coming to terms with his checklist’s truth. But still, he impresses with the mix of comedy and drama and ends the film on a positive note.
Positives:
- Exciting Conflict
- Comedy Works For Most Part
- A Few Key Scenes/Dialogues
Negatives:
- Gets Predictable At A Few Places
- Emotional Impact Could Have Been Better
Sundarakanda Movie Review and Verdict:
Sundarakanda is a clean entertainer. The film includes continuous humorous moments, notably from Satya, and offers an intriguing conflict. There are parts that fall flat, but it definitely makes for a good watch.
