Sun TV records good profits in the second quarter. Sun TV owns multiple ventures like Movie production, TV channels, OTT platforms and in cricket franchises as well. The team has given an official report for a 2nd quarter [July – September] of this financial year.
On Friday, Sun TV Networks Ltd, which is based in South India, reported a 14.05 percent rise in its consolidated Profit After Tax (PAT) to Rs 464.54 crore for the September quarter. According to Sun TV Network’s regulatory filing, the company had a profit after tax (PAT) of Rs 407.31 crore in the year before.
The revenue generated from operations was Rs 1,048.45 crore, a 26.98 percent increase from Rs 825.65 crore over the period. Sun TV Networks’ total expenses increased by 45.92 percent to Rs 541.06 crore. The total income of it went up by 26.8 percent to Rs 1,160.21 crore. Meanwhile, Sun TV also said the result “includes income from the Holding Company’s Cricket franchises (Sun Risers Hyderabad and Sun Risers Eastern Cape) for the 2023 season of Rs 1.02 crore and Rs 513.68 crore for the quarter and six months ended September 30.”
Sun TV Network offers satellite TV channels in six different languages, such as Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Bengali, and Marathi, and they also broadcast FM radio stations nationally. In addition to its other assets, Sun Risers Hyderabad cricket franchise in the Indian Premier League, Sun Risers Eastern Cape in Cricket South Africa’s T20 League, and the digital OTT platform Sun NXT are all owned by it. On Friday, Sun TV Networks Ltd’s shares settled at Rs 646.95 on the BSE, which was 1.05 percent lower than its previous close.
