If the inside reports are to believed, Disney Star in talks with Sun TV and Adani and some other big investors as well to sell the rights of Hot star and Star India. Though there has been no official confirmation on this, it is said that most likely Sun TV will acquire Hot star and Star India.
According to reports, the Walt Disney Co is in talks with potential buyers for its India streaming and television business, which includes billionaires Gautam Adani and Kalanithi Maran (SUN TV) for a few days. Reliance Industries Ltd., which is controlled by Asia’s richest person, Mukesh Ambani, has already had asset-sale talks, as reported earlier by the media.
Disney is considering strategic options for its business in India, such as an outright sale or establishing a joint venture, as Bloomberg News reported in July after losing its streaming rights for the Indian Premier League (IPL) to Viacom18 Media Pvt.
Reliance, Paramount Global, and Uday Shankar’s investment firm, Bodhi Tree Systems, are partners in Viacom.
Maran’s broadcasting company, Sun TV Network Ltd., could benefit from a potential acquisition, while Adani Group could benefit from expanding its newly acquired New Delhi Television Ltd. (NDTV).
