Sreeleela: Down in Tollywood, Rising in Kollywood

Sreeleela's Tamil Films: OM, Dharman and Dare Devil

Sreeleela’s career has taken an interesting turn. The actress, who became one of Tollywood’s busiest heroines in no time, now has no Telugu film in her pipeline. At the same time, she is on the rise in Kollywood, with three big Tamil films lined up.

A Fast Rise in Tollywood

Sreeleela’s rise in Telugu cinema was quick. Within a short time, she was signing big projects one after another, working with top stars and young heroes alike. For a while, she was the most in-demand heroine in the industry.

The Flops That Hurt

But the hits didn’t keep coming. A string of failures slowly affected her career in Tollywood.

In 2025, films like Robinhood, Junior and Mass Jathara didn’t work at the box office. Earlier this year, Pawan Kalyan’s Ustaad Bhagat Singh, in which she played the female lead, also underperformed, closing its run with a disappointing total.

With the failures piling up, the offers slowed down, and as of now, Sreeleela doesn’t have a single Telugu film in her pipeline.

The Kollywood Rise

While Tollywood has gone quiet for her, Kollywood is opening up in a big way. Sreeleela now has three major Tamil films lined up, each with a top star.

1. OM with Dhanush

Sreeleela is one of the leads in Dhanush’s OM, directed by Amaran fame Rajkumar Periasamy. The film also stars Sai Pallavi, with Mammootty in a pivotal role. OM releases in theatres on November 20.

2. Dharman with Rajinikanth and Ram

She is also part of Superstar Rajinikanth’s Dharman, which features Ram Pothineni and is produced by Kamal Haasan. The makers are set to reveal her role today, with buzz that she could be paired with Ram.

3. Dare Devil with Ajith Kumar

Sreeleela plays the female lead opposite Ajith Kumar in Dare Devil, directed by Good Bad Ugly fame Adhik Ravichandran. The film had its pooja on November 2, and the shoot begins after Diwali.

Sreeleela’s Kollywood Line-Up

  • OM: Dhanush, Sai Pallavi, Mammootty (Releasing November 20)
  • Dharman: Rajinikanth, Ram Pothineni
  • Dare Devil: Ajith Kumar

Bollywood Debut Too

That’s not all. Sreeleela is also making her Hindi debut opposite Kartik Aaryan in an untitled film directed by Anurag Basu. The film is set to release in theatres on April 30, 2027.

A Second Wind

All three Tamil films have big potential, and with a Bollywood debut on the way, Sreeleela’s career is getting a strong second wind outside Tollywood.

If even one or two of these films click, she could come back to Telugu cinema in a much stronger position than before.
