Nagarjuna and Tabu are coming together again after 28 years, but this time, it’s not love. It’s war.
On Tabu’s birthday, the makers of Nagarjuna’s landmark 100th film, King 100, revealed her character with a special glimpse. Tabu plays Mahanthi Jhansi Rani, and going by the video, she is set to take on Nagarjuna in a fierce face-off.
Meet Mahanthi Jhansi Rani
The glimpse introduces Tabu in a powerful, intense role. The video hints at a political backdrop, with shots of huge public rallies, a grand assembly-style building, drum beats and Tabu sitting in a commanding pose.
It also carries a sharp line about two kinds of people, “those who believe in hard work, and those who believe in luck”, followed by declaring: “I hate luck!”
Nagarjuna’s Birthday Wish
Nagarjuna shared the glimpse with a warm birthday message for his co-star.
“Happy Birthday to Dear #Tabutiful. The world will never forget ‘Pandu’ from Ninne Pelladata… and now you’ll be etched in our memories as ‘Mahanthi Jhansi Rani’. You made this film so special,” he wrote.
He added: “This time, it’s not love…”
From Ninne Pelladata to King 100
Nagarjuna and Tabu’s pairing is one of the most loved in Telugu cinema. Their romantic drama Ninne Pelladata became a big hit, and Tabu’s character Pandu is still remembered fondly by audiences. The two also worked together in Aavida Maa Aavide.
Now, after 28 years, they reunite on screen, but as rivals instead of lovers. That twist alone has made the reunion one of the most exciting parts of King 100.

King 100 is a milestone for Nagarjuna, marking his 100th film as a lead actor. The film is written and directed by Ra. Karthik, with music by Devi Sri Prasad. It is produced by the Akkineni family under Annapurna Studios.
