Mani Ratnam’s Two-Hero Film: It’s Nani, Not Suriya

It's not Suriya but it is Nani who stars alongside Dhanush in the next film of Mani Ratnam.

There’s a big twist in Mani Ratnam’s next multi-starrer. Earlier reports said the legendary director was planning a two-hero film with Suriya and Dhanush. Now, the latest news is that the second hero isn’t Suriya. It’s Nani.

The Two-Hero Script

Mani Ratnam has developed a two-hero script and has been working on the casting for some time. Dhanush has been part of the plan from the start, and Suriya was earlier said to be the other lead.

Now, reports confirm that Nani has come on board as the second hero alongside Dhanush.

A Dream Come True for Nani

For Nani, this could be the biggest dream project of his career. The actor has said many times that Mani Ratnam is his favourite director, and he has never hidden his admiration for the filmmaker.

If everything goes well from here, Nani will finally get to work with the director he has looked up to for years.

A First for Dhanush Too

The film is special for Dhanush as well. This will be his first film with Mani Ratnam, adding another big name to a career that already includes some of the best directors in Indian cinema.

A Fresh Pan-South Combination

Nani and Dhanush together in a Mani Ratnam film makes for one of the most exciting combinations in South Indian cinema. Nani brings a huge Telugu fan base, Dhanush is one of Tamil cinema’s finest actors, and Mani Ratnam is known for getting career-best performances from his stars.

That mix could give the film strong appeal across both the Telugu and Tamil markets.

Inji Vellam Comes First

Mani Ratnam has already finished shooting his next film, Inji Vellam, a romantic drama starring Vijay Sethupathi and Sai Pallavi. The film, with music by A.R. Rahman, is set to release in January next year.

The Nani and Dhanush project is expected to move forward after that, and an official announcement is awaited.
