After facing a big disaster with Mithra Mandali, Priyadarshi comes up with Premante, a romantic comedy that deals with love and marriage. Directed by debutant Navaneeth Sriram, the film stars Anandhi as the female lead, alongside Suma Kanakala in a key role.

Story:

Madhusudhana Rao (Priyadarshi) and Ramya (Anandhi) fall in love and get married, enjoying three happy months together. But a shocking truth about her husband turns Ramya’s world upside down. Though she gives him one last chance, an unexpected incident leads her to support her husband in his criminal activities. The rest of the film shows how this decision changes their lives and the challenges they face because of it.

Performances:

Priyadarshi performs his role well and tries to bring life to the character, but his part does not feel special or impactful. Anandhi carries most of the film on her shoulders and shines in some scenes, but she could have delivered even more if the writing was stronger. Suma Kanakala appears in a lengthy role, yet her character is not particularly impressive. Suma and Vennela Kishore provide some laughs, and Ram Prasad and Hyper Aadhi add a few funny moments too.

Debut director Navaneeth Sriram chooses a regular romantic comedy storyline and adds an interesting crime angle. The first half moves smoothly with a good balance of romance and comedy. The pre-interval twist is handled well and builds good curiosity for the second half.

However, the second half fails to hold interest as the narration becomes slow and filled with dull scenes. The emotional depth between the lead pair is not conveyed properly, and the side track involving the lady constable feels weak and underdeveloped. The climax also feels too convenient and lacks strong impact.

Positives:

  • Priyadarshi – Anandhi Pair/Acting
  • First Half
  • Interesting Crime Angle

Negatives:

  • Weak Seecond Half
  • Lead Pair’s Emotions Fall Flat
  • Ineffective Climax

Premante Review and Verdict:

Overall, Premante impresses in the first half with neat execution, and Priyadarshi and Anandhi enhance a few scenes with their performances. But after the interval, the film loses momentum, and the writing in the second half, especially the climax, is disappointing.
