Varsham is a classic not only in Prabhas career but also in Telugu film history. This musical love story received massive appreciation from audiences and critics, it also became a super hit in small screens.

The audience and Prabhas fans still love Varsham and rave the songs scored by Devi Sri Prasad and action sequences of the film. It has been re-released in theaters recently. However, the response is abysmally poor.

Re-releasing classics of the 2000s has been a trend recently. Starting with limited release of movies like Aadi and Gabbar Singh for festival days, this trend went on to become a big event with considerable release of remastered versions.

Pokiri is one such gigantic release on Superstar Mahesh’s birthday. Other movies like Jalsa, Okkadu, Badri and Chennakesava Reddy followed this trend and got unbelievable numbers at box office not only in the Telugu States but also worldwide.

However, the latest release of Varsham hasn’t seen such thunderous response at the box office. It might be due to the untimely release or lack of promotion or lack of interest from fans.

Generally fans involve in selecting the movie and managing the shows, but here distributor Natti Kumar has involved in the re-release. This is probably the reason it didn’t catch fans attention.

Hence, there is no use of releasing old movies without proper planning. In this OTT and YouTube era, there needs to be an x factor to mobilize fans for prerelease to be successful, else these great movies have to face unwanted failures at the box office.
