The Tamil epic action drama ‘Ponniyin Selvan1’ starring Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Chiyaan Vikram, Trisha Krishnan, Jayam Ravi, and Karthi continues to win the hearts of audiences around the world. The film guided by the legendary filmmaker Mani Ratnam has grossed a whopping Rs 300 crore worldwide within the first week of its release which is an outstanding feat.
The movie is based on the 1955 novel by the late writer Kalki Krishnamurthy. According to the trade circles, the film has crossed Rs 300 crore at the worldwide box office, and it has surpassed Rs 100 crore in Tamil Nadu Region within just 6 days of running by today it has crossed all the Kollywood movies only behind Vikram and 2Point0.
Coming to all versions, the movie will settle at the top second position. And the trade circles are expecting that the movie will achieve the number one position by creating an all time record in its full run. Ponniyin Selvan1 is Performing well in Hindi too but in Telugu states the movie has almost ended up its theatrical run.
The film also known as ‘PS-1’ was released in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi on September 30. Interestingly, it is the first Tamil film to be released in IMAX format.
The period drama tells the story of Chola Emperor Rajaraja I (947 – 1014). The film which is made in two parts began its shooting in 2019. What’s more interesting is that the shooting part for both parts has been completed in 150 days. The movie has already become the biggest hit in Maniratnam ‘s career.
The film’s music is scored by AR Rahman, cinematography by Ravi Varman, and art direction by Thotta Tharani. The film also stars R Sarathkumar, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Sobhita Dhulipala, Vikram Prabhu, Jayaram, Rahman, and R Parthiban.
