Rashmika has started a new initiative that goes well beyond cinema. Under her banner, Project Annapurna, she has adopted 400 families for a full year, taking care of their monthly essentials so they do not have to worry about putting food on the table.
What Is Project Annapurna?
Project Annapurna is a year-long support programme led by Rashmika Deverakonda. The idea is simple and powerful: 400 families, 365 days, adopted and nourished.
Instead of a one-time donation, the project commits to supporting the same families through the entire year, helping them manage their household expenses and daily needs.
Three Months of Groceries in the First Phase
In the first phase, each family is receiving groceries enough to last three months. The kits include:
- Rice
- Wheat flour
- Ragi
- Cooking oil
- Three types of pulses
- Soya chunks
- Other daily essentials
By covering these basics, the project takes a big burden off families who struggle with rising household costs.
Eight Cities Across South India
Project Annapurna is reaching families in eight locations: Hyderabad, Mahabubnagar, Anantapur, Bengaluru, Chennai, Kochi, Kodagu and Vijayawada.
The list covers Telugu, Kannada, Tamil and Malayalam regions, reflecting the audiences that have supported Rashmika across her career. It also includes Kodagu, her home district in Karnataka.
Named After the Goddess of Food
The name Annapurna comes from the Hindu goddess of food and nourishment, a fitting name for a project built around making sure no family goes hungry. The project’s logo shows a bowl of grains held in a pair of hands, with the line “400 Families; 365 Days; Adopted & Nourished.”
A Busy Week for Rashmika
The initiative comes during a big week for the actress. Her film Ranabaali, in which she stars opposite Vijay Deverakonda, releases in theatres on October 16. She is also part of several other upcoming projects across languages.
With Project Annapurna, Rashmika has shown that she wants to use her reach for something meaningful off screen as well. Fans have welcomed the move, and many hope it inspires others in the industry to take up similar long-term efforts.
