Bellamkonda Sai Sreenivas is back with another mystery. After the success of Kishkindhapuri, the actor is ready with Haindava, an occult thriller that mixes faith, crime and the unexplained. The makers have unveiled the film’s teaser and announced that Haindava will release in theatres on November 27.
The Mystery of Rangapuram
The teaser sets up a gripping story. In the village of Rangapuram, all the idols from an ancient temple suddenly go missing. Soon after, a villager is found murdered.
The mystery deepens when the temple priest claims that the missing idols will return on their own within a set time. To investigate the strange case, the police send an officer who does not believe in God at all.
That sets up the central conflict of the film: faith against reason, with something unexplained standing in between.
Bellamkonda as an Atheist Cop
Bellamkonda Sai Sreenivas plays the atheist police officer, a man who believes in humanity rather than God. The teaser presents him in a strong, commanding avatar, and the role also gives him plenty of action. Placing a non-believer at the centre of a temple mystery gives the story an interesting edge, and his journey through the case looks set to drive the film.
Mystery, Devotion and Action
Debutant director Ludheer Byreddy blends mystical, devotional and action elements in the teaser. Rather than revealing too much, it slowly builds suspense and leaves viewers with questions about what is really happening in Rangapuram.
The teaser’s dark, atmospheric look adds to the mood, with Sam CS’s background score raising the tension throughout.
The Cast
Samyuktha plays the female lead. Mahesh Manjrekar appears in a key role as the temple priest, whose belief that the idols will return is at the heart of the mystery. Saurabh Sachdeva, JD Chakravarthy, Shivaji Raja and Getup Srinu play other important roles.
The Team
Haindava is written and directed by Ludheer Byreddy and produced by Mahesh Chandu under Moonshine Pictures, with Shiven Ramakrishna presenting. Harish Kannan handles the cinematography, Sam CS composes the music, Karthika Srinivas R is the editor and Siva Kamesh D is the production designer.
The shoot is in its final stage, with post-production happening at the same time.
Building on Kishkindhapuri
Haindava comes at a good time for Bellamkonda Sai Sreenivas. Kishkindhapuri, his horror thriller, worked well with audiences, and Haindava continues in a similar space of mystery and suspense, this time with a devotional backdrop. With mythological and devotional films doing well at the box office, the film’s theme could work in its favour.
Haindava releases in theatres on November 27 as a pan-India film.
