Ponniyin Selvan-1 is in no mood to stop its rampage at the Box Office. The film recently crossed the Rs 400-crore mark Worldwide on Day 12. Now, according to trade circles, the film is expected to earn about Rs 450 (worldwide collection) crores by the end of its second week at the box office. The film is set to continue its box-office domination till Diwali.
And coming to the Tamil Nadu area, recently Vikram has created an all-time record by collecting more than 190 crores Gross. Ponniyin Selvan-1 which has a terrific hold after the festival also breaks the Vikram movie’s final collections and heading towards the 200 crores mark which it will cross in a few days from now. This will be the 1st 200 Crores grosser film in Tamil Nadu.
According to the trade circles the film will have a good run till Diwali, because even after the new releases, it will be running in a good number of theatres. Currently, it is doing well across Tamil Nadu and in overseas markets also. The film is expected to earn more than Rs 500 crores (worldwide collection) by the end of its theatrical run.
Returns of investment wise, it is an immensely profitable venture. It is said that the film has earned more than the budget of both parts combined.
Touted as a dream project of the legendary director Mani Ratnam, ‘Ponniyin Selvan-1′ is based on an Amarar Kalki Krishnamoorthy novel of the same name. The film features an ensemble cast – Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Vikram, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Trisha, Sarathkumar, Vikram Prabhu, Aishwarya Lekshmi, and Sobhita Dhulipala among others.
PS-2 is expected to be released seven months from now in 2023. With the gigantic success of the first part, the sequel will surely make more money as per the trend of sequel movies receiving huge responses from the audience.
