Then it came to a point that the couple did not want to use the clips. Vignesh and Nayan felt that it was his (Dhanush’s) film and he had all the rights to say yes or no to use the clips from the film, Naanum Rowdy Dhaan. However, the couple just wanted to use the four lines that Vignesh had written in the film because those four lines would sum up their life and love. The controversy involving Nayanthara and Dhanush got bigger after the actress shared an open letter calling out the actor for suing her documentary, Nayanthara: Beyond The Fairytale, for Rs 10 Cr for using footage from Naanum Rowdy Dhaan. The film was produced by Dhanush, and the actor had not authorized the actress to use videos from the film. However, Nayanthara pointed out that the videos used in the documentary were behind-the-scenes footage that were shot by the team on their phones.
