Lyca Productions Plans Powerful Comeback

0

Lyca Productions emerged as one of the top production houses in South Indian cinema. But it had a series of continuous failures and lost crores of money. According to the reports, Lyca Productions plans a powerful comeback.

After a big failure like Vidaamuyarchi starring Ajith, the production went into a much worse position, and as said above, there was news that Lyca would be completely shelving the production of films after the completion of two ongoing projects.

One among them is Indian 3, and the other one is Sundeep Kishan’s movie under Vijay’s son Jason Sanjay’s direction. However, recently, there was again news that Lyca is not shelving, and they are in discussions with all the stars who have previously worked with the Lyca banner.

Now the news is that Lyca is joining hands with a big Bollywood production house and plans to produce multiple big films in the coming years. Actors/stars like Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan, Suriya, Simbhu , Lawrence, and many other heroes are said to be on this list.

Lyca Productions plans a powerful comeback. Their attempt is definitely good, but the production also needs to correct many steps from okaying the script to completing the shooting in the planned budget for the revival.

Nani’s HIT The third case is having a rampage at the box office. The pre-release buzz resulted in a massive turnaround of audiences, and the film also received decent reviews and responses from audiences and critics. HIT The Third Case box office collection is all set to touch 100 crores in the first week itself.

HIT 3 Hold Well After First Day.

After collecting 38 Cr gross on the opening day, the film showed super hold on day 2. Despite it being a weekday, it collected 16-17 Cr, which takes the total gross to 55 Cr, and the share is around 30 Cr.

The crime thriller is expected to gather bigger collections today and tomorrow than on day 2. So, for the 4-day extended weekend, the film’s worldwide gross is likely to go close to 90 Cr. With that, the film is all set to achieve breakeven by the weekend itself and is also set to enter the 100 Cr gross club by the 1st week itself.

HIT 3 Box Office: All set for a 100 Crore first weekend

Nani’s HIT The Third Case box office collection is all set to touch 100 crores in the first week itself. Till now, no film from tier 2 heroes has collected 100 Cr gross in the 1st week, and HIT 3 will be the 1st one to achieve the major landmark.

HIT 3 now has its eyes on the 150 Cr club, and whether it can achieve it depends on how the movie holds after the 1st weekend. As it is the summer season, the movie is expected to have a good run at the box office.

Retro Drops on Day 2

Suriya’s latest release Retro opened to an encouraging start at the box office, grossing around ₹33 crore worldwide on its first day. In India, the film earned approximately ₹24 crore gross on day one, signaling strong initial interest. However, the momentum did not sustain, as day two collections dropped significantly, falling to single digits. Early estimates suggest that the film managed only around ₹9 crore gross across India on its second day—a noticeable decline.

The film witnessed a dip across all regions, including its stronghold Tamil Nadu. The combination of mixed word-of-mouth and the weekday effect appears to have negatively impacted its performance. Particularly in the Telugu-speaking states, Retro saw a steep crash in collections.

Despite the dip, there were some positive signs on day two. Evening and night shows in Tamil Nadu experienced slight growth, and the advance bookings for day three are reportedly better than those for day two. For Retro to maintain a healthy weekend total, significant jumps on Saturday and Sunday are now crucial. The coming days will determine whether the film can bounce back or fade after a promising start.

Hit The Third Case – Day 2 Box Office Early Collections

Nani’s Hit: The Third Case is proving to be a box office juggernaut. After a sensational opening day that saw the film grossing around ₹38 crore worldwide, the momentum continued strong into its second day. Despite being a weekday, Hit 3 performed remarkably well, with early estimates suggesting a gross of over ₹15 crore worldwide on Day 2.

With a two-day global gross already touching the ₹55 crore mark, the film is inching closer to its breakeven target of ₹80 crore. At this pace, industry analysts predict that the breakeven point could be achieved by Sunday itself, cementing the film’s success within its opening weekend.

The third day is showing even more promise, with advance bookings already ahead of Day 2, indicating a solid jump in collections. If the trend continues the movie could end its first weekend on a record-breaking note for Nani.

The film’s strong word-of-mouth, gripping narrative, and Nani’s star power are clearly resonating with audiences, making it one of the most successful openers in recent times. All eyes are now on the weekend figures as Hit: The Third Case continues to dominate the box office.

Thudarum Scores 2nd Biggest First Week in Malayalam History

Mohanlal’s latest release Thudarum is creating a box office sensation with its phenomenal performance. Blending family drama with crime elements, the film has struck a chord with audiences, leading to exceptional word-of-mouth and strong collections. Directed by Tharun Moorthy, the movie opened with an impressive Rs 5.10 crore and closed its first weekend with Rs 20.30 crore gross in Kerala alone.

Its momentum only grew stronger over the weekdays, pushing its first-week Kerala gross to a massive Rs 47 crore. This rapid rise has already earned Thudarum the All-Time Blockbuster tag within a week. Impressively, it is now poised to surpass the lifetime earnings of 2023’s Malayalam hits Neru (Rs 47.70 crore) and Bheeshma Parvam (Rs 47.10 crore).

On the global front, Thudarum has clocked Rs 12 crore from the rest of India and a staggering Rs 60 crore overseas, bringing its total first-week worldwide gross to Rs 119 crore. This marks the second-highest opening week for a Malayalam film, just behind Empuraan. With sustained audience interest and strong occupancies into its second week, Thudarum is on track to cross the Rs 150 crore mark soon and is heading confidently towards the Rs 200 crore milestone.

Aamir Khan on Cinema/Theatre survival: Delay OTT releases

0

Many celebrities of Indian Film Industry participated in the WAVES Summit conducted by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India. The celebrities talked about many things pertaining to films and shared their opinions. Bollywood Actor Aamir Khan also presented his view about the ongoing debate of Cinema/Theatre survival caused by the OTTs. His words are going viral now on social media platforms.

Aamir Khan appealed that the arrival of films on OTT platforms must be delayed for a longer period, instead of a 4-8 week window that currently exists. He added that this current theatrical window is too small and questioned why the audience would show up to the theatre if films were made available to them on OTT after 8 weeks. The Actor has also previously talked about the same issue.

This is absolutely true. Films across all Film Industries must have at least a 3-month window, like before when films were allowed to be screened on TV after months. This also led the theatres to survive in the meantime. But this has been disturbed with the arrival of OTTs.

In South Indian Film Industries, the OTT streaming has been reduced to a 4-week streaming period for a few films, and some films are arriving just after 2 weeks if the film fails miserably. The decision to halt the early OTT release has to be made only by the Exhibitors. They must convince the Producers to stop this tradition.

Three exciting films, Hit 3, Retro, and Raid 2, were released yesterday on the occasion of May Day. These films generated very good hype and expectations before their release, and netizens anticipated them to open big as well. But, shockingly, Hit 3 opened bigger than the other films.

Hit 3 starring Nani opened with nearly 38 crores worldwide, beating Retro, which opened with 32.5 crores, and Raid 2 with 26 crores. This is indeed a resounding achievement for Nani and Hit 3. No one expected Hit 3 to open this big despite having great buzz. The film also became Nani’s career biggest opener, beating his previous film, Dasara.

On the other hand, Retro also gave Suriya a big opening, but more was expected. The film couldn’t beat his previous best, Kanguva, worldwide. However, the Tamil Nadu Gross took a solid opening, making it Suriya’s best.

Raid 2, the sequel to the blockbuster hit Raid, managed to open well. It also acquired good reviews, and the film’s performance now lies in the weekend numbers. It has to be seen if it crosses the numbers of its prequel in the final run.

Hit 3 has also provided a great relief to the Telugu States Theatre management, who have tasted bitter results with the recent flop films. The film is also expected to post big numbers in its final run if the same momentum continues.

The film overall delivered just an average start, and looking at the prospects, the film must perform well in the coming days.
